Arthur Papikyan sentenced to imprisonment and taking his punishment in “Goris” penitentiary Institution since 2008, went to a hunger strike and sew his mouth on February 13th of this year, protesting against arbitraries of penitentiary institution administrative.
On this occasion the lawyer of Helsinki Association Gayane Khachatryan made an emergency call to penitentiary institution administrative hotline of Ministry of Justice and also by calling to “Goris”
penitentiary institution administratives tried to get clarifications, yet none was eligible to answer the defendant’s question by phone. Similar answer got the reporter of Epress.am who also tried to find out the reasons of the convict’s protest.
According to Arthur Papikyan, he is being subjected to undue pressure caused by an appeal from a woman saying that Arthur has lent money from him. After the appeal the convict is being subjected to psychological pressure, almost every day the cell is being carried out a search. In order not to give a process to the appeal, Deputy Head of penitentiary institution has asked money from Papikyan and this was the reason to go on a hunger strike and sew his mouth.
