 Violence committed against Hayk Melqumyan and Marine Grigoryan is tightly linked to the well-known murder case of Levon Gulyan. As a reminder, on 9 May 2007 not far from restaurant “Pandok” run by L. Gulyan, where both H. Melqumyan and M. Grigoryan worked, a homicide was committed. From the period of 10-12 May 2007 police used violence against the above mentioned persons - first in Shengavit Police Station of Yerevan and then in General Department of Criminal Investigation of RA Police where they were illegally deprived of their liberty. Later in the day of 12 May the corpse of L. Gulyan with a number of signs of violence was discovered in the yard of the General Department.

In April 2010 Artak Zeynalyan, the assignees’ representative of 9 victims of the events of March 1, 2008 applied to Court with a claim to terminate the inactivity of the Special Investigation Service (SIS). Artak Zeynalyan claims that the SIS did not do anything to reveal the death circumstances of those 9 victims.
