Inactivity of Law-Enforcement Bodies Is Being Appealed
artakz.jpgIn April 2010 Artak Zeynalyan, the assignees’ representative of 9 victims of the events of March 1, 2008 applied to Court with a claim to terminate the inactivity of the Special Investigation Service (SIS). Artak Zeynalyan claims that the SIS did not do anything to reveal the death circumstances of those 9 victims.

dat.jpgOn March 19, 2010 the trial over defendant Arman Besaryan was over at the Court of First Instance of Shengavit district. The presiding judge was S. Kostanyan, prosecutor- T. Poghosyan, lawyer – G. Hovhannisyan. A. Besaryan was accused of part 1 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of RA (Abuse against the Representative of Authorities).

The Court found A. Besaryan guilty and convicted him to 1 years of imprisonment.

sand1.jpgKhachatur Mkhitaryan was not allowed to observe a court session. Was he drunk? Was he armed? Did he behave like a hooligan or was he quarreling? No, no, no… He wore sandals. In summer people wear sandals for a walk in the city. So terrible! Where are the watchful police? Be calm! Our police are vigilant; the police officer looked at Khachatur’s feet and stood up for the honor of court. A junior sergeant closed the entrance with his body and demanded that Khachatur respect the court. From the expression of his face it could be understood that respect towards court was the meaning of his life. He referred to some internal regulation, which allegedly prohibited wearing sandals at the court. They did refuse our request to consult with the regulation; but then we caught a glimpse of a notice, incredible in its sense, posted at the court entrance։ “Entrance in sportswear is strictly forbidden”.
