National Security Service Exerts Pressure on Witnesses

On 13 May, 2009 the trial of Grigor Voskerchyan continued at the Court of First Instance of Kentron and Norq-Marash districts. During the trial Mushegh Ishkhanyan, the lawyer of G. Voskerchyan made a statement which said: “Though we told the Court that pressure had been exerted on witnesses, the processes continues and now it is done by the officers of the National Security Service (NSS)”. The defense attorney did not mention the source of information due to its security.
Hence, according to M. Shushanyan during the whole trial of May 12, Aghasi Grigoryan, the officer of NSS of Abovyan was present in the room designed for the witnesses.

   

Shant Harutyunyan Was Released

According to S. Harutyunyan, sister of Shant Harutyunyan, the latter was released from “Vardashen” CEI on 13 May, 2009. S. Harutyunyan was accused of the case of March 1.
Pursuant to experts’ conclusion “Shant Harutyunyan was incapable at the moment of committing crime”.

The trial of Alexander Arzumanyan and Suren Sirunyan (Article 225, part 1 " Organization of Mass Disorders") started on 29 April, 2009. The electronic carriers (disks), proving the accusation of A. Arzumanyan and S. Surenyan, should be examined during the trial. The first one was watched only few seconds, which contained a dance of a half-naked woman.

On 27 April, 2009 the trial of Grigor Voskerchyan started at the Court of First Instance of Kentron and Nork-Marash Districts of Yerevan (Article 225, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia- organization of mass disorders). Judge to the case is Gagik Poghosyan, Prosecutors to the case are Ashot Nadoyan and Harutyun Harutyunyan, the defense side represents Stepan Voskanyan. The Court rejected the two motions filed by the defense side. Stepan Voskanyan stated that witnesses to the given criminal case were called to the police department the other day. According to his sources officers of the National Security Service were also present there. Next court hearing will be held on 04 May, 2009

On April 22, 2009 the trial of oppositional political leaders Myasnik Malkhasyan (Article 225, part 1 of Criminal Code of RA – Organization of Mass Disorders and Article 38-316, part 2 of Criminal Code of RA – Exercising Criminal Attempt Against A Representative of Authorities, judge to the case A. Khachatryan, prosecutor to the case H. Harutyunyan) and Hakob Hakobyan (Article 225, part 1 of Criminal Code of RA – Organization of Mass Disorders, judge to the case– G. Avetisyan, prosecutor to the case Sargsyan) began at The Court of First Instance of Kentron and Nork Marash Districts, Yerevan.

   

Trial of Alik Arzoumanyan and Suren Surunyan

The first trail of Alexander Arzumanyan, ex-minister of foreign affairs of Armenia and Suren Sirunyan began on April 08, 2009 at the Court of First Instance of Shengavit District, Yerevan. The defendants are accused of Article 225, part 1 of Criminal Code of RA (Organization of Mass Disorders). Many testimonies given during the court hearing differed from those given in the investigation period. It is rather interesting that preliminary testimonies were signed on April 29, 2008, while the witnesses gave their testimonies on March 2008.
The trial of April 22, 2009 was postponed till April 27, 2009 as the witnesses were not present at trail. The judge made a decision to bring them to court.

The Court decided to discontinue criminal case filed against Alexander Arzumanyan, Myasnik Malkhasyan, Sasun Mikaelyan, Hakob Hakobyan, Grigor Voskerchyan. Surem Sirunyan and Shant Harutyunyan accused of Article 300, part 1 of the Criminal Code of RA, and to stop criminal prosecution due to absence of corpus delicti.

In fact in this court I am accused of my convictions by the authorities of Armenia, moreover materialist intelligentsia of Armenia spread this accusation among the society.
The alvardpetrosyans, razmikdavoyans, robertsahakyantss, the editor of newspaper “Hayots Ashkharh” Gagik Mkrtchyan and others wish that I reject my convictions.

   

Statement Of Press Secretary Of C.E. Department Of M.O.J. On Health Condition Of Shant Harutyunyan

On March 5, 2008 Shant Harutyunyan had a medical examination by doctors of First Aid Service. During the medical examination Shant Harutyunyan told the doctors that he suffered from headaches, sickness and feebleness. After the medical examination the doctors found out that heart sounds are clean, breathing is vesicular, abdomen is smooth and does not pain.
